LESSON PLAN 1 (NOUNS)

Target Audience: Form 1 Berlian
Ages: 13 years old
Enrolment: 30 mixed ability students
Duration: 90 minutes
Subject: English
Topic: Let's Learn Nouns!

Objectives:

1. Have a clear understanding what is a noun.
2. Identify the types of nouns.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Define the term noun correctly.
2. Identify types of nouns and their usage.
3. Complete the assessment provided with 80% correct answers.

Set Induction:

1. Teacher attracts students' attention by asking questions about things that they can see around them.
2. Teacher starts the lesson by showing a video about nouns at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Shqi-zU_KsM.

Content Development:

1. Teacher asks students to read notes in "Nouns" section.
2. Then, teacher explains about the definition and types of nouns.
3. After that, teacher asks students to complete the exercises provided in assessment.

LESSON PLAN 2 (ADVERBS)

Target Audience: Form 1 Berlian
Age : 13 years old
Enrolment: 30 mixed ability students
Duration : 90 minutes
Subject : English
Topic : Let's Learn Adverbs!

Objectives:

1. Have a clear understanding what is an adverb.
2. Identify the types of adverbs.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. State the definition of an adverb and tell which parts of speech they modify.
2. Students will be able to recognize adverbs and distinguish them from other parts of speech.
3. Students will recognize adverbs of time and adverbs of frequency. 


Set Induction:

1. Teacher attracts students' attention by asking questions about how, when or where a verb that they can see around them can be modified.

2. Teacher starts the lesson by showing a video about adverbs at

Content Development:

1. Teacher asks students to read notes in "Adverbs" section.
2. Then, teacher will provide an activity board that will entail sorting adverbs into categories and explaining in what ways they modify words. 
3. Teacher will explain that adverbs change or add to the meaning of verbs, other adverbs, and adjectives.
4. Teacher will make four columns on the board with these headings: When, Where, How, To What ExtentStudents are asked to sort these adverbs into the four columns on the board: tomorrow, there, lazily, too, outside, secretly, yesterday, extremely, soon, somewhat, carefully, close, now, much, forward, slowly.
  • WHEN: tomorrow, yesterday, soon, now
  • WHERE: there, outside, close, forward
  • HOW: lazily, secretly, carefully, slowly  
  • TO WHAT EXTENT: too, extremely, somewhat, much
5. After that, teacher asks students to complete the exercises provided in assessment.
